This blog is both a reflection of my time in Japan as well as a testimony to the strength of human bonds that can last a lifetime. It is an ode to an experience that has shaped my life and given me more than I could have ever imagined when I boarded the plane those many years ago.
Ultimately, though, it is a paean to love that spans time, distance, and insurmountable cultural barriers.
Life rarely turns out the way we expect, hope, or want it to. This is a story of a journey that poignantly breathes life into the truism.
